Healthcare Innovation Summit 2025

The Healthcare Innovation Summit: Tokyo-Riyadh 2025 brought together over 200 senior executives and decision-makers from the Saudi and Japanese healthcare sectors for three days of intensive discussions, demonstrations, and partnership signings. The event, co-organized by MOSOOK and supported by both governments' health ministries, took place at the King Abdullah Financial District Conference Center in Riyadh. The summit focused on three strategic pillars: telemedicine and digital health, pharmaceutical manufacturing and research, and hospital management and operational excellence. Telemedicine and Digital Health: Japanese companies showcased their latest telemedicine platforms, remote patient monitoring devices, and AI-powered diagnostic tools. Several Saudi hospitals signed pilot agreements to implement these technologies, particularly for serving rural and remote communities. The integration of 5G-enabled medical devices was a key highlight, with live demonstrations of remote surgical consultations between Tokyo and Riyadh. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing: A major outcome of the summit was the announcement of three new pharmaceutical manufacturing joint ventures in Saudi Arabia, leveraging Japanese expertise in quality control, regulatory compliance, and lean manufacturing processes. These facilities are expected to create over 2,000 jobs and reduce Saudi Arabia's dependence on pharmaceutical imports by an estimated 15% within five years. Hospital Management: Japanese hospital management firms presented their methodologies for improving patient flow, reducing wait times, and enhancing overall healthcare delivery efficiency. The Toyota Production System's principles, adapted for healthcare settings, drew significant interest from Saudi hospital administrators looking to improve their operational performance. The summit concluded with the signing of 14 memoranda of understanding between Saudi and Japanese healthcare organizations, valued at approximately $800 million in combined investment commitments. MOSOOK facilitated bilateral meetings throughout the event and will continue to support the implementation of these partnerships.
